Night photographs

Last night, we did not have power for about 2.5 hours. These are some (artsy?) pics that I clicked during that time. First is milk boiling on a gas stove – the brassy glow coming because of the candle nearby. The second pic is the candle itself. And the third is a surreal, star-trekky picture of my beetel phone, when the phone is active (someone speaking).

Auto sights …

Sights that I noticed around me today when I had to travel in an auto for a short distance. You somehow tend to be more at a grass-roots level, when you travel in an auto, and notice so much more, than when you are in a car or a bus.

What the h*** is a MH auto doing in Karnataka. Well, looks like it is not just the IT folks who look at Bangalore as a city for more opportunities. This enterprising guy seems to have ‘transferred’ too to the IT city.

Brilliant screen printing on the side of a mini-bus – the staff bus of Bosch power tools. It shows a Bosch hammer (not shown in picture) punching holes through out the bus’s sides.

Header image

The above header image is a cropped version of another picture that I snapped on the way back from Tirupathi to Bangalore. The sun was playing all kinds of games that day – hiding between the trees, then between the two mountains, and ofcourse, a couple of times, taunting my eyes as well …

Elephants of Asia

Brilliant photo slideshow on the Times webpage.

Excerpt:

In his new book, Vanishing Giants, Photographer Palani Mohan journeys across Asia, searching for the soul of the Asian Elephant.

Some great photographs of the big beasts. Some touching/ugly photos (elephants being broken in etc). But nice photographs none the less.
