Shit Coffee

Ok, dear readers. Pardon the really bad title. But I cannot help it. I just read the desi girl blog, and this is what I read. Well, this is what she read and posted, and I read and I post here.

Excerpts:

Kupi Luwak beans come from Indonesia and are harvested by civets, the indigenous wild cat. These clever felines sniff out the choicest berries, digest the flesh, and pass out the bean in the way that nature intended.

The human element arrives in what must be the most highly specialised job on the planet – the tracking down of civet droppings and their careful rinsing to reveal the pristine and flavour-enhanced bean.

Read the blog post here. Hmm, the question is, what will you be thinking of, when you drink coffee next !

Putthandu Nal Vaazthukkal (Happy Tamil New Year)

Today is the Tamil New Years day. The tamils share the same day for new year with the Malayalees as well (they call it vishu). The telugu people, kannadigas, and the marathi’s had their new year last week. The difference in dates is because of the lunar and solar calendars followed by the different state peoples. To know more about the tamil calendar, head to here.

Greenery in ITPL

My favourite jaunt these days is to take a small 10 minute walk after lunch. Staring at the lush green lawn, the beautiful flowers, and the green trees, somehow calms and relaxes me. For a brief moment, all the stress inside me vanishes.

Grass and Glass

(Caption is not fully accurate – that is not really grass ; but I liked the caption so much, that I stuck with it 🙂

No Frills Airlines Parody

Now that, India has its share of no-frills airlines as well, I think this video will ring a bell for most of us. Remember the famous (but brilliantly silenced) law suit, about Air Deccan refusing drinking water to a passenger. The passenger won ofcourse, citing that, water was a life-sustaining necessary item, that cannot be denied to any living person. Check out the MadTV parody on a no-frills airlines. A lot of these things do ring a bell with Decccan (not sure if anything has changed since Mr. Mallya bought it though).

Travels in a flat world — the Indian design industry

EETimes has a great image gallery on the hardware design industry that is booming in India. This is no outsourced cheap labour. This is what EET (in its infinite pessimism) itself calls “Outsourced R&D”.  Go to the image gallery  here.

Disclaimer: You will find the mandatory cow eating garbage and elaneer (coconut-water) guy photo in the middle. Without them, foreign photographers seem to think, that no Indian photo-set is complete.
